Sadly, one of our regular attenders at Bogart passed away this morning around 8:15 am. The funeral for Eugene Eades will be held on Friday, May 31st, at 11:00 am at Lord and Stephen’s funeral home, off of Jimmy Daniel Road. More information can be found here. The visitation will be held Thursday, May 30th from 6:00-9:00 pm. Our prayers go up for Eugene’s family during this time of grief.

So that everyone will be able to attend the visitation, our regular Ladies’ Night Out supper on Thursday has been canceled.

Jumping into June

We have a lot going on this June at Bogart UMC and would love for you to be a part of what we are doing!

June 1st-6th: Our community VBS kicks off June 1st at 6:00 pm with fun, fellowship, and a cookout of hamburgers and hotdogs! Area churches band together to provide this event and all of our VBS nights for our Bogart kids. Be sure to sign-up your children for VBS that runs from Sunday, June 2nd through Thursday, June 6th from 6:30-9:00 pm. A closing ceremony will be held on June 6th. All are invited to come!
June 2nd: On this Sunday we will be honoring our graduates at the 11:00 am service. If you have anyone graduating in your family this year, please let the pastor know so they can be included in the service.
June 8th: Everyone is invited to join us for our famous Chicken BBQ on Saturday, June 8th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Tickets are$8 for half a BBQ chicken with sides included. Homemade baked goods will also be available for sale. Feel free to bring the whole family to eat in our fellowship hall, or pick up your plates to take home.
There’s a reason this BBQ is famous!
June 16th: We will be honoring our fathers during our 11:00 AM service! Please have your children attend our June 9th children’s service in preparation for this special day.
June 7th & 17th: We have two special opportunities to help the ACTS mission in downtown Bogart this month. We will be serving Oconee county citizens in need of food and other items on June 7th from 9:00 am- 1:00 pm. On June 17th ACTS will be partnering with Action Ministries to pack food boxes for the elderly. This will take about an hour, and begin at 9:00 am.
June 11th-13th: The North Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will be meeting in downtown Athens at The Classic Center. See the ngumc website for more details.
June 23rd: BUMC Administrative Board Meeting.

May Events

We have special events all month at BUMC! We hope that you can join us.

Sunday, May 12 at 11:00 AM is our special Mother’s Day Service. We hope that all moms will fill honored and loved.

Also, Friday May 17th is our ACTS mission day! If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please stop by or call the church for more information.

Sunday, May 19th we will be celebrating Pentecost as well as our United Methodist Heritage.

All month long we are having a diaper drive for the United Methodist Children’s Home. Diapers of all sizes are welcome!

Our graduates will be honored on the first Sunday in June. If you have a graduate who would like to be included in this service, please contact Pastor Gomez.

Our condolences go out to the family of Carolyn Sarah Perry, who passed away last night at the age of 88 years old. She was a beloved member of our church and our community. She will be missed.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 30 at 3:00 PM at Lord and Stephen’s Funeral Home West. The viewing will be held directly before the funeral at 2:00 PM. The funeral home is located at 1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd., Bogart, GA 30622.

The website is changing! Throughout the rest of this month, continue to expect changes to our website as we work to bring it up-to-date and give you the latest information.

A lot of special things are happening this month at the church:

Join us this month as we continue to celebrate the resurrected Christ, Sundays at 11:00 AM.

If you or someone in your family are interested in being baptized or learning about baptism, please sign up for one of our time slots on April 14th or 21st at the church.

Also, join us on April 21st during our 11:00 worship service for a festival of God’s creation where we learn about good stewardship of the earth and the gifts God has given us.
